Alicante
is the capital of the province of Alicante. The more than three hundred thousand inhabitants of the city are the largest city of the Costa Blanca after Valencia.
Alicante has perhaps one of the best climates in Europe. Rain is barely in the summer and even in the winter months it is often still pleasant to enjoy wine and tapas on a terrace during the day.

As a city trip destination, you will not see Alicante much touted. Striking, because Alicante is a nice mix of daily life in the Valencian autonomous region mixed with tourism. With the Explanada España, Alicante has a pedestrian promenade where the Ramblas in Barcelona can suck a tip, the beach is among the best in the region and the city has a great nightlife.
Alicante is still too often seen by Dutch tourists as a gateway to the seaside resorts at the while it can be just such a nice final destination.
